A drink that defines a culture

In class today we were asked what would be a drink that would define the culture of the United States. It was stated in class that beer might define a country in europe. That beer ties the country back and connects them to their roots. Some people mentioned that the United States might be defined by coca-cola, gatoraid, or even Red Bull. However, I do not feel that the United States has a specific drink that would degine the culture. I believe this because in class someone said that the american culture would be defined by beer. However, the professor mentioned that beer was more of attributed to europe and connecting europe with its past. I feel that since the United States has more ethnic cultures then europe did that it is harder to place on type of drink on the entire nation. Also, the United States is a young country and really does not have a significant time period to define the country. Also, alot of the technology that the american society makes is spread throughout the world relatively rapidly. Therefore, I feel that the United States came into existance when information could be spread rapidly and therefore culture could be spread rapidly. This could possibly suggest that America would never had a distint culture of its own that does not exist throughout the whole.
