In Asimov’s writings he talks about a human future that has robots incorporated into it. Asimov coined the term robotics and came up with the three laws of robotics. These three laws of robotics help ensure that robots will help protect humans and help preserve the human culture and its’ achievements. Yet, what happens when a robot gains self awareness and wants to become a human, Asimov explored this in “Bicentennial Man”. In this story Andrew wanted to become a human by having an operation done. Is it fair for humans to tell a robot that it is not real or at least not as real as us. When can these robots be considered humans? When they are biological? When they have free will? Will humans ever accept robots as “humans” as equals or will they always be hated because their immortality.
