Technical activity automatically eliminates every nontechnical activity or transforms it into technical activity. This does not mean, however, that there is any conscious effort or directive will. Jacques Ellul

After reading “The Bicentennial Man”, it appeared to be really strange that Andrew wanted to die to make others think he is more human. Surely no human really wants their life to end, we simply just live through life knowing that someday we will. Humans don’t think to themselves on an ordinary day, “Hey fellas, I’m going to go die later, okay?” It just seems strange to hear a human or something of the sort say that they want to die. It doesn’t make Andrew any more of a human just by simply dying. I suppose in his own little cyborg head it does, but to other humans…? I certainly think not. Life is too unpredictable to plan a civil death like that. Humans wait until it simply just their time to go, they don’t yearn to die like Andrew did.
