Technical activity automatically eliminates every nontechnical activity or transforms it into technical activity. This does not mean, however, that there is any conscious effort or directive will. Jacques Ellul

Ihde Readings
The text by Ihde wasn't the easiest to translate, but he did talk about a new eden in which there was no technology at all. He pointed out that every culture uses technology, some alot more than others. He points out that even the most primitive cultures use technology such as making fire or using some sort of weapon to protect them or kill for food. To live in a culture without any technology would be impossible, especially the area we live in today. Ihde atleast doesn't seem to be completely against technology because he points out that all cultures ue some sort of technology and that without technology many cultures could not survive. Ihde also talks about Heidegger and Heidegger uses examples of technology by using some of the most basic tools such as a hammer. Heidegger uses the most basic things thatwe take for granted to show that even the smallest things we forget about is technology and was brand new at some point. From what I could translate from the texts was tha Ihde is atleastsomewhat optimistic for technology.
