Moore's Law and Technology

Moore's Law: The number of transistors that can be placed on a computer chip doubles every two years (meaning more computing power).

Moore's Law of computing power has held true for decades as computer engineers have developed new ways to enhance computing speeds for computers by placing more and more transistors on a tiny chip. They have become so efficient however that by 2013 the computing power will only double every 3 years and will perhaps decrease even more beyond that. If knew ways of maximizing transistors isn't found, we may finally reach an end on the power of supercomputers.

It is said that technoology itself is growing exponentially. But I can only wonder what would happen when we do reach that final end.... When we reach that Star Trek like future (minus the BORG) and we have nothing left to do but wonder through space in a friendly manner with no need for alcohol or an economy. With no money I feel no one would work. If no one worked then there would be no entertainment, no sports, no authors, no teachers, etc. Perhaps all work could be done by robots but I feel that sounds like a boring life. I of course can't imagine the future technology because I only know what I know now so its best to wait and see.
