The End of the Straight Story

The end of A Straight Story was terrible. It didnt really give us any indication on how Alvin got back home or did the two brothers fix their relationship with one another. I think David Lynch should start putting chapters in his dvd's because it's a lot of work to get back to the point you left off at.

I agree that the ending of this film was pretty bad. However, the overall movie was very "inspirational" per say because it shows how someone will travel cross the country in order to make sure that their sibling is doing well. I also agree that David Lynch should put chapters in his DVD's because most people today do not have the time to sit and watch a 2 hour movie in one sitting.

I thought that “The Straight Story” was entertaining. I liked that the brothers making-up was shown through the stars at the end. This worked because Alvin had said that he and Lyle used to enjoy looking at the stars at night and talking about what they were going to do in the future. So the stars at the end showed the reparation of their relationship because that was a “cornerstone” of it before. I also don’t think that it would have fully repaired had Alvin not ridden the mower because doing so showed Lyle how much he meant to his brother and what lengths Alvin would go to in order to see him again when he was hurt. I think that it was a very rich movie when it came to meaning even if it wasn’t filled with action or suspense, and I definitely feel that it was worth watching.

I wasn't to happy with the ending of the movie especially with how well the movie had been moving along throughout the beginning and middle. I was very into the movie and was a little disappointed in the end. It just seemed to slow down and kind of trod through the last 30 minutes. All in all I thought it was a very good movie, mainly giving credit to the beginning and end of the movie.

I also really didn't enjoy the ending of the "Straight Story." It left us with questions that still needed to be answered. I would have liked to see a longer conversation between the two brothers. The story was revolved around the two brothers finally seeing each other after a long time of not communicating. And i think it was just cruel to leave the viewer without the answer of how they patched things up. I also would have liked to known how he got bach! haha

I read that most people disagree with the ending of the movie because it just stopped. Maybe the writers did this to make the audience react and appeal that something more must still happen? This makes us come up with our own ideas for the ending. Also I think that leaving out the ending helps to put greater emphasis on what he did to get there.
