In Carr's book he talks about how people rarely use a commonplace book (a book for thoughts and quotes) because they would rather use a social networking site. Sites like Facebook will never compare to something like a commonplace book. A commonplace book is something that is private and is a place to collect thoughts, quotes, and other ideas and combine them in one place. Facebook is very public and will never be a good place to reflect on person feelings. It is important to seperate our time on the Internet and remember the importance of writing in a journal. A commonplace book is something a person can have and cherish for the rest of their lives, but social networking sites will always come and go!

I agree that commonplace books are a good idea. It wouldn't even have to be a notebook with the technology there is today. People can take notes down on their iPods today. A lot of things people hear during a day are soon forgotten. I know a lot of things I hear are worth remembering but I forget a lot of it because I didn't write it down!
