Technical activity automatically eliminates every nontechnical activity or transforms it into technical activity. This does not mean, however, that there is any conscious effort or directive will. Jacques Ellul

Power and True Nature of Chance
Francis Bacon talks about how an favourable omen is found in an understanding of the power and true nature of chance. Bacon said that discoveries occur when men are not looking for them and are thinking of something else. I believe what bacon says about the nature of chance because in life the discoveries you come across or the ideas you come up with most of the time come by chance when your least expecting anything to happen. Chance plays a role in the discoveries of new technology because inventors come up with new ideas in the world of technology when they least expect it or by chance through the trials and inventions they proceed to invent.
